Meeting the Needs of our Communities
Through our programs, the Hawk Mountain Council is committed to meeting the needs of our communities in:
Poverty - By using our Exploring Career Awareness programs we teach and inspire young men and women about the careers of the future and how to prepare themselves for a productive life after high school. Our ScoutReach initiative provides access, at little or no cost, to young men and women who are considered disadvantage or at-risk youth and teaches them about self-reliance and goal setting.
Childhood Obesity - Through our outdoor programs we are committed to teaching young people and adults about how to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Academic Performance β A hallmark of the Scouting programs is achievement. Each segment of our program is designed to allow young men and women to learn and excel. In addition, we have developed a S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program based on our diverse merit badge and advancement programs.
Workforce Development β Our Exploring Career programs as well as our outdoor programs including S.T.E.M. activities β welding, ecology, science, astronomy, robotics, nuclear energy, drafting, composite materials and computer science give young men and women the skills they need for life after high school.
Family Cohesiveness - The family is the basic unit of society and is important to both individuals and communities. Every part of our program is designed to help Scouts and their family realize why it is important to have a strong, cohesive relationship.
